Reunion at Mill Rythe – Hayling Island April 2004
Well, as you can see from the heading – although the reunion is still at Hayling Island the venue has changed from Lakeside to Mill Rythe Holiday Village. Why? Unfortunately we didn’t make the 350 people we needed to break even, which meant that at Lakeside we would not have been able to have sole use of the site and even more important, a gala dinner. As the gala dinner is the high point of the weekend I made the decision to change venues. Hilary and I paid a visit to inspect the site and although Mill Rythe isn’t as modern it has everything Lakeside has in amenities and we have sole use. The price is still the same but inclusive of coach trips, which means that the Saturday trip to Chichester market is free!! And the Sunday trips are reduced by £6.60 per person.
Do you remember when a pint of beer was 1p, or a shot of spirits or a glass of wine the same? Well those of you who are coming to the reunion will experience those prices again. Until midnight each night a pint of beer (John Smiths, Beamish, Fosters Lager, Blackthorn Cider) will be 1p, a glass of house red or white wine will be 1p and a shot of Whisky, rum, gin or brandy will be 1p. All bottled drinks, beers, mixers, soft drinks, or named brands (e.g. Southern Comfort, Malibu) will be the normal price.
We could still do with a few more applications so, if you have forgotten to book or think it’s too late, it’s not. I’m accepting bookings up to the end of December.
Saturday trip – Arrangements are as follows:
The coach will leave Mill Rythe at 10.30hrs and go direct to Chichester where you can browse round the market or go sightseeing. The coach arrives back at Mill Rythe at approx 16.00hrs. This trip is now free
Sunday trip – Arrangements are as follows:
Coaches will take us to the Sunday service at St Anne’s Church in HMS Nelson after which we have lunch in the Victory club. At approx 14.00hrs we leave for the dockyard to see the Mary Rose or go on a boat trip. Arriving back at Mill Rythe in plenty of time to have, perhaps, a little aperitif or two before dinner.

Cars: Important Note
For those who are taking their own cars to the church service and want to park in
Swiftsure car park I must have your registration number. Otherwise you won’t be able to park. Parking is free of charge. Disabled drivers will be allowed in the dockyard; even so I also need your registration number.
For those of you who wish to use the coach to church and lunch only, please let me know by phone or letter ASAP, but NOT LATER THAN 1STFEBRUARY 2004, as I have to book the seats.
If you want to go on the Saturday or Sunday trips but haven’t already booked please let me know by phone or letter ASAP, but NOT LATER THAN 1ST FEBRUARY 2004.
As I mentioned in the August issue of TNT, I have arranged with an insurance company to cover the cost of your accommodation only (£125 or £112). For those of you who decide to take it out please fill in the “Declaration of Health” form (one per person) in this issue of TNT and send it, together with the cost of insurance, to me along with your reunion balance cheque. The cost of insurance is –

The remainder of the balance outstanding for the reunion should reach me NOT LATER THAN 1ST MARCH 2004.

As we have received a number of requests for Dinner and Dance only places for the gala dinner evening we have decided to make this available so if you want to bring a guest or two please feel free to do so.
