Ships…Theseus, Steepholm, Sulva, Chieftain, Newfoundland, then onto submarines Tireless, Tabard, Taciturn, Sealion, Opportune and Swiftsure.
Brian left the navy as a CPO(SM) Coxn and joined the real world and as he says straight into a recession. He took on various jobs to keep body soul and family together. Jobs included the likes of factory work, Corp of Commissionaires, Stationery Officer for a firm of Stockbrokers, finally collecting ex company cars from all over the UK. He finally retired in 2002.
Reginald Walter Gale, POREL, 1952/54
RN 1947/55, Excalibur, Collingwood, Victory, Scorpion, Resource, Loch Fada, Loch Tralaig, Drake.
On leaving the navy Reginald worked as an electronic engineer at GEC Coventry, TV and Radio engineer at Heinz Bros. Hereford and various other companies. Reginald also undertook teacher training at Wolverhampton TT College and has been a lecturer in Maths at Henley College, Coventry. He attended Lanchester College, Coventry, to gain HNC in Electronic Engineering with endorsements in Physics and Mechanical Engineering.
Reginald has also been a part time coach driver covering most of Western Europe. He retired from that to drive school buses.
Reginald also plays Cornet with the Coventry Festival Band and Rolls- Royce band and has done for some 30 years; he also conducts the band on Remembrance Sundays and during the Christmas period.
